Designated as the Association of Governments for our region, MAG strives to accomplish the best work we can for those we serve in Summit, Utah, and Wasatch County, Utah. We thrive on seeing the communities in our area grow and succeed. Our emphasis areas include Informed Aging, Community & Economic Development and Planning for Growth.

Areas Of Emphasis at MAG

Informed Aging


MAG is the Area Agency on Aging for Summit, Utah & Wasatch counties providing education, resources and services that empower aging adults to thrive at home and in our community. As life advocates, we help families and individuals navigate the nuances of advancing age.

Community & Economic Development

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is sponsored by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development with the primary objective of developing viable communities through the provision of decent housing, suitable living environments and expanding economic opportunities for persons of low and moderate income.

Planning for Growth


MAG is the regional transportation planning group for urban Utah County organized as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Utah County, and a Rural Planning Organization (RPO) for Wasatch County. An MPO/RPO is formed to allow all transportation related decision makers a voice in the process to plan and fund regional transportation projects.

Informed Aging

MAG is the Area Agency on Aging for Summit, Utah & Wasatch counties providing education, resources and services that empower aging adults to thrive at home and in our community. As life advocates, we help families and individuals navigate the nuances of advancing age. For those who need care or provide care—or will in the future—our unbiased insight leads to informed decisions.

Our services are divided into three categories: everyday living, transition planning and community connections. Our services include:

  • Home Weatherization
  • Utility Payment Assistance

  • Caregiver Resources and Education
  • Dementia Resources and Education
  • Aging Options Counseling
  • Volunteer Opportunities

Community & Economic Development

MAG administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Programs for Lehi City, Utah County and the State Small Cities program benefiting Summit and Wasatch Counties. CDBG is sponsored by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development with the primary objective of developing viable communities through the provision of decent housing, suitable living environments and expanding economic opportunities for persons of low and moderate income, unable to obtain traditional business financing.

The Mountainland Economic Development District (MEDD) is a designated district by the Economic Development Administration (EDA). The MEDD supports regional economic competitiveness, investments and collaboration. The MEDD administers a Small Business Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) that provides gap and start-up funding to businesses that are unable to obtain traditional business financing.

Planning for Growth

MAG Administration

The MAG Executive Council directs the organization as a whole. The Bylaws codify what MAG should be doing in the region. The Executive Council also monitors and approves the budget and the independent financial audits

ONGOING PROJECTS

MAG provides services for a wide variety of projects.

Transportation Improvement Program (TIP):

The TIP is a four-year program listing funded regional transportation projects within the Provo/Orem urban area.

TransPlan50:

TransPlan50 is the regional transportation plan for Utah County for the next 30 years.

Volunteer services:

Friendly Callers and Meals on Wheels
Once a week volunteers can deliver meals to home bound seniors or give a senior a call.

Home Programs: 

HEAT and Weatherization programs can help eligible individuals and families with their home costs.

Active Transportation:

There are over 80 miles of paved trails for biking and other activities. MAG has an interactive map for the trails and includes plans for future trails.

Small Business Loans:

Eligible individuals can apply for a small business loan.

Senior Services:

MAG provides senior services such as everyday living, community connections, and adjustment to new life stages for the seniors

To help MAG reach these goals, we coordinate several committees and boards.
