Mountainland Economic Development District | MAG

MAG strives to strengthen economic vitality, competitiveness, and opportunity for communities and residents in our region.

MOUNTAINLAND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT

The Mountainland Economic Development District (MEDD) advances economic growth and opportunity by fostering regional collaboration, preparing regional plans, and facilitating federal investments in our communities.

Goals of the District

The MEDD is guided by six strategic goals identified in the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS):

  • The district is recognized nationally as one of the most competitive places to do business in the state of Utah and the United States.
  • Graduates from MEDD colleges and universities can find employment with local businesses and build lifelong careers in the district.
  • The district has a successful entrepreneurship network, supporting local business creation and retention.
  • Travel throughout the district is convenient and offers multiple transportation options for personal and business users.
  • Every community in the MEDD has access to high-speed broadband infrastructure and other utilities.
  • Residents and visitors enjoy a high quality of life that includes affordable living, a family environment, cultural entertainment, and access to natural resources and recreation.

Small Business Loan Fund

The Mountainland Small Business Loan Fund creates permanent, long-term jobs within the region by providing gap and start-up financing to qualified businesses for eligible activities. Loans made through the fund are intended to help bridge the gap created by shortfalls in commercial financing. Funds are repaid into the program and recycled to other businesses, producing an ongoing job creation program. Funds are available for businesses in Utah (excluding Provo, Orem, and Lehi), Summit, and Wasatch Counties.
