Future Population Projections

Mountainland is charged with producing small area population projections for our planning area. This process starts with county data produced by the state of Utah. To make their projections, the state uses the latest base data available including building permits, tax returns, IRS data, LDS Church records, school district enrollment, and utility connections to derive base year data. Base year is then used in a regional economic model to project data out 50 years. Mountainland uses a land use model to project where the future growth in the municipalities will occur. The municipalities review this data and the MPO Regional Planning Committee makes the final approval of the projections.

For county data, there is newer 2065 data available, click here to review it. Municipal data has not been updated to the new county data. The data listed below was produced in 2012 showing the municipalities and how they added up the the county projections at that time. In reviewing the projections, please keep in mind, the short term years out to 2040 will be more reliable than those out to 2060.
