Julie Larsen and Christopher Scott will explore the differences between the three different Veterans Administrations: Health, Benefits and National Cemetery, and how each applies to veterans and their caregivers. Elder abuse in the veteran population will also be discussed, including warning signs, current trends in elder abuse being seen at the VA, as well as ways to intervene in cases of suspected abuse.
About Julie Larsen
Julie Larsen graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters degree in Social work in 2008. She worked as a Crisis Worker at the Community Treatment Program for Valley Mental health (VMH) from 2008-2011. After VMH, Julie worked in the Telehealth Department at the VA in Fort Harrison Montana 2011 -2012. Julie transferred to Salt Lake City VAMC to continue work in the Telehealth department. In 2014, she became the Program Coordinator for the Veteran Directed Home and Community based services program providing care in the community for Veterans in Utah, eastern Nevada, and southeastern Idaho and parts of Wyoming.
About Christopher Scott
Mr. Christopher Scott is the Congressional Liaison for the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System. Mr. Scott works with Congressional members and staff, Veterans Service Officers, VA Central Office, VHA Hospital Director and other staff to assist Veterans. Mr. Scott coordinates with Congressional and Veteran Service Organization to provide briefings and provides strategic guidance between VA and the Department of Defense. Mr. Scott is part of the Customer Service Department and provides outreach for the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System. Mr. Scott is also a VA Certified Mediator performing conflict management and resolution between VA employees and staff. Previously Mr. Scott worked for the Veterans Benefit Administration as the Outreach and Military Coordinator as well as a Rating Veterans Service Representative.
Mr. Scott has a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Business Management and Finance. Mr. Scott has been married for 33 wonderful years to Dolores and they have three beautiful children.
