Volunteer in our Caregiving Program

VOLUNTEER TO HELP A CAREGIVER

Whose life can yours change by volunteering a few hours each week or month to offer a caregiver a much needed break?

Family caregivers are the backbone of home-based, long-term, and community-based care systems.

And they need our support.

Long days and nights without breaks places a family caregiver at risk for a wide range of emotional and physical health issues, financial issues, and work-related challenges. By providing respite (a break) to caregivers, we can preserve the well-being and quality of life for both the caregiver and the individual they are caring for. Ultimately, this support will also allow their loved ones to “age in place” often for an extended period of time and delay, or even eliminate, nursing home placement.

As the Area Agency on Aging, we at Mountainland Association of Governments applaud the courage and resilience of caregivers and are dedicated to developing community supports to strengthen them in the selfless service they provide. One of these ways is through volunteer caregiver respite care.

We invite you to join our team of volunteers and give a caregiver a much needed break for a few hours a week or month.
