The 2010 Census was conducted 1 April 2010 and was a head count of America. Data from the census has started to be released in 2011 with a majority of data to be available late spring 2011. In previous census' the "Short Form" and "Long Form" were distributed. The short form was required to be filled out by everyone and included basic questions about number or people, gender, race, Hispanic ethnicity, housing units, and age. The long form was mailed out to 1 in 6 people and asked much more detailed information including commuter travel times, income, educational attainment, ancestry, and poverty. In 2010, the long form was discontinued and replaced by the American Community Survey. The survey is conducted each year throughout the county with the same questions and requirements as the long from. Its benefits are that important data needed to plan roads, cities, services, and government needs are now collected annually instead of once every ten years. Data available includes Census Fact Sheets (will be updated as new data is released) which detail all data available for each municipality and county within the Mountainland area, and Census Data Tables with include listings of data by the subject shown for geography at the Utah municipal, county, and national level. |
