As many have no doubt noticed, the interchange on I-15 and American Fork Main Street is currently being rebuilt. What you may not know is that, when completed, it will be the second interchange in the nation to be built using the Diverging Diamond configuration. The first in the United States to be built recently opened in Springfield, MO. You can read a story about this bridge to get an idea of what is coming to Utah.
UDOT website includes video of what traversing the interchange will look like. |

Mountainland Association of Governments received a request from Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands (FFSL) to examine the potential impact of a bridge across Utah Lake on Air Quality. A comparison of our current official transportation network and the same network with the bridge was performed. The findings were sent to FFSL and can be reviewed in the letter below.

Mountainland Association of Governments is committed to planning for the future growth that will occur in the south Utah County area in future decades. Previously, MAG completed transportation quadrant studies in Lake Mountain, Provo/Orem, Nebo and Northeast Utah Valley. These four studies of Utah County identified transportation projects and strategies through planning year 2030 to satisfy future travel demand. The results of the transportation quadrant studies provided an understanding of future transportation deficiencies and demands and helped form the basis for MAG’s Regional transportation Plan adopted in 2007.
With future forecasts identified in the previous study, efforts shifted to defining exact corridors, specifying actual alignments and introducing the community to these corridors and connectivity to these corridors. |

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Utah Transit Authority (UTA), and Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), will prepare an Alternatives Analysis/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for transit and roadway improvements in Utah County, Utah. The potential improvements will serve transit markets that include Brigham Young University (BYU), Utah Valley State College (UVSC), existing and planned student housing, retail malls, several employment centers, historic downtown Provo, and two major regional intermodal centers. The current planned termini for this project are the planned Orem intermodal center near UVSC on the north and a location near the Provo Towne Center Mall and East Bay Business Complex (Novell Campus) on the south. An extension to the north to serve Vineyard is also being considered. The general location of the corridor is on or near University Avenue and University Parkway in Utah County. |
